About Me
French by birth, Belgian by heritage, British by marriage, wife of a diplomat and mother of children living abroad, I am an itinerant artist. I love the diverse influences of this eclectic environment of mine, where cultures and languages mix happily, where curiosity and human contact play an essential role, and where creativity is a vital force.
My studies, life, and work have always reflected this double focus: in international relations on the one hand and in artistic expression on the other. Whilst my formal training led me to graduate from various European universities in Law, Political Sciences and International Business, my heart was firmly in crafting, making and creating.
My arrival in South Korea in 2011 was transformational for my art practice. Having nourished a deep passion for paper since childhood, I landed in Seoul in the heart of a paper culture that was completely new to me and yet felt so familiar. The particularities of Hanji, the traditional Korean paper, were a revelation. I met in one movement a medium and a purpose. Mostly self-taught until then as an artist, I embarked on an intense course of apprenticeships in Korean paper crafts and Asian Paper Arts. I trained under the direction of renowned paper artists and master craftsmen – and switched from working on paper to working with paper.
Connecting directly through paper, learning beyond language barriers, through direct practice, observation and repetition, these formative years between Master and student were a human adventure about far more than technique. The gestures I learned, the discipline I absorbed, and the values passed on to me combined into a powerful experience of transmission that still lives through my work today.
Since then, my practice has evolved into a deeply personal exploration of paper as both medium and message. Bridging through my work the places I’ve lived in, the stories I carry, and the beauty I continue to seek, my core focus remains. Through my art as through my role as a diplomat’s partner, the attempt is the same: balancing action and expression, striving to add peace, harmony, and mutual understanding.
